Stawell Quilters Show & Challenge 2022...

Oh look...another draft post!...The Stawell Quilt Show was a few months ago now being the weekend of Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October this year...it's still this year though so I'm calling that a win on this post...

I didn't get to spend very much time at the show as I didn't get there until about 3:30-4:00 o'clock on the Sunday...just in time for the announcement of category winners and help with pack-up (work prevents me from helping with set-up so I feel I should contribute to pull-down)...only got to do a quick run around and didn't get many photos in.

This is a quilt we made for one of our ladies 70th birthday quilt back in 2018...crazy patchwork, not my thing, at. all. but it turned out amazing...and won a ribbon at the Melbourne exhibition this year...it was entered as our Group Quilt...because of the pandemic and shows not being held it took an extra year or two to get to the Vic Quilters Show...

A little bit closer look at some of the blocks...I had to look really hard to remember which was the block I made...it's the blue one with the umbrellas on the inside row...this post is when I made it...

Another 70th birthday quilt made by the group...

If is amazing how cohesive the embroidery became even though it was all done by different people, some with limited embroidery experience...and yet...once all together became as one...

These ones I just liked...

Love a good star...

Just because...

This pineapple block one was being worked on at Cave Hill...loved it...

I always like Dahlia quilts and this one played right into that sphere...

The Group always has a Challenge for the Quilt Show...and it's the only thing I put in...this year it was take a blue envelope and inside was a photo of a leaf...photos were all of different leaves from the same tree...the challenge was to make a textile item of any size, shape or materials as long as it had some visible quilting...the ideas that people came up with...such a creative group...

The display...

My attempt...the items were displayed with the photo inspiration...

As soon as I opened the blue envelope and saw the leaf I knew I wanted to make a felt leaf "bowl"...silly but then...after the show...I found a use for it!...

Holds English Paper Piecing "bits" nicely...so actually useful...

Happy Stitching...
