Summer School 2019...

Summer School has come and gone for another year...five days of fun and friendship...stitching, talking and learning...Wednesday and Thursday were spent in Karen Cunningham's workshop starting her quilt "Alice"...
Friday was sit and sew and I worked on a component of a very very old quilt project of Karen's quilt "Bumble Bee", which out of context of the whole makes no sense, so, no pics of that progress...

This year Karen had a guest tutor in Judy Newman...she had let us know last year that she was planning to have Judy come along...I didn't want to make Judy's quilt but I was keen to have the experience of taking her class...her quilt was a two block (repeated) design and I was happy to just make a block and leave it at that - and to my great relief Judy didn't take exception and was happy for me to do just that...she is a lovely lovely lady and a great tutor, I came away with learning of her techniques and tips and that was my aim so mission accomplished...the block was finished too!...
The quilt is County Clare and the other block has a shamrock applique but I've decided I don't want to make that one.

Quilt Show Road Trip...Warrnambool...

On Saturday the car was piled into and a road trip was taken to Warrnambool to visit the Southern Right Creative Festival quilt show.  Wow, so worth the drive....Well, the drive isn't actually that long, less than 150kms due-ish south..so many quilts and a fabulous display by the camera club as well. We also saw quite a number of our fellow quilt group members too.  I took lots of quilt photos but when I asked if we could take photos I forgot to ask about posting on-line so I'll not do that but to get a sense of the room Linda @ Gum Valley Patchwork was one of the shops that lined the walls and her post gives an idea and also the challenge for the 2021 show.  The show is a Rotary event from what I understand and anyone can put in to enter quilts and enter the challenge, it isn't a Group members event and a few of our members had quilts hanging which was fun to actually know some makers.

After our planned trip to Spotlight following the quilt viewing I decided I wanted to see the beach...and I was driving so I got my wish...an ice cream and a walk along the breakwater by she who knew Warrnambool best was a great idea.

Of course before going home we needed coffee so back into town and while walking from the car to the cafe I saw these little fellows chalked onto the footpath...
and across the road watching over proceedings...
A good day out and definitely a show to put back on the calendar...

Slightly longer road trip over the past two days - arrived in Blackheath, NSW this afternoon...Summer School time...yay!!!! Tomorrow the fun begins!

Quilt Angel...

Yesterday when I collected the mail for work I found a parcel box key...and a parcel to me! Uh, I haven't ordered anything lately (I usually have parcels delivered to the work PO Box).  It's from the USA...what? An Angel sent a parcel to make up for the lack of one from my swap partner in the Small Quilt Talk Small Quilt Swap from last year...how kind...and it's just lovely...

Thank you Quilt Angel whoever you are, it was a lovely surprise and I'm very grateful for your kindness.

Happy Stitching...
