A detour on the 'Tis The Season Stitch-A-Long road...a variation of one of the extra projects from the book...

I wanted to play with the red/white colour scheme...right, got that out of my system now it is back to the stitcheries for the quilt...

Um, She got distracted...

She should be making secret swap present as it needs to be in the mail asap, she should be working on 'Tis The Season stitcheries for March for the Stitch-A-Long, she should be doing those things with deadlines but is she doing those things she should?...nah, 'cause not...

While waiting for the vet to arrive yesterday morning to stick pins in me - what is with that idea!...she got distracted...a UFO that has been taunting her...she says she's found a drawback to the whole organised thing...the project boxes are off the floor, no longer out of sight under the cutting table and taunting her...let's see what this one will become...I think it should be something for me 'coz I got stuck by the Vet but it's probably something a dog doesn't need....as usual!

Hope no-one comes to your house and sticks pins in you!

Flowers for Christchurch...

It has taken me three weeks but my Heart for New Zealand is finally done...it's not that it is great and wonderous and terribly complicated and took all my attention for three weeks...it's just that I straight away knew I wanted to make a burgundy wool felt heart and then...nothing...nada...for the life of me I couldn't figure out what to put on it!!  What did I want to send to the people of the devastated city and surrounding areas...then yesterday I had a light bulb moment...a bunch of flowers...now quarrantine in both our countries is tight...for good reason, I'm all for tight quarrantine...it's not like you can just pop real flowers in the post so here is my Bunch of Flowers for Christchurch...

It's fairly simple, just some backstitch, buttons and ribbon but I hope it brings a smile to someone who looks at it...

More hearts can be seen at the Hearts for Christchurch blog...

Friday Night was Sew-In Night...

Heidi and Bobbi again hosted Friday Night Sew In last night, thank you girls for a bit of sewing inspiration...I waited until yesterday to sign up, the last couple of times I've tried and failed as the world got in the way of my plans, but yesterday the stars aligned...so I signed up with confidence...with the result that...

...this mug rug (Chookyblue...big coaster), which had been on my "to do list" and on the cutting table for way too long, actually happened.  After going through rigorous quality control...my cup of tea worked just fine on it...it is now ready to go off to its new home...and to kill two birds with one stone, an OPAM finish for March!...

Hope your Friday Night Sew-In was productive...

It's A Top...A GJ Top...

Ta Dah!  A Gardener's Journal has borders and is now officially a completed quilt top!  Wahoo!! Happy Dancing...

Very happy to have it to this stage...yes, I know, the quilting and binding is supposed to be tackled straight away and the quilt finished by now but let's be honest here...it isn't going to happen so why pretend...

Preparation is underway for the next Stitch-A-Long, 'Tis The Season, which started on the first of this month...I've cut out the background squares and strips for the block borders and started tracing the stitchery designs on...like A Gardener's Journal I want to get all the blocks prepared up to the border stage so that I can just keep on going each month without having to stop to cut and trace...

Working away on my year long Christmas swap, the first part of which has to be mailed out by the end of this month and I still haven't finished up the stocking let alone any pressies to put in it and it has to be sent with the January, February and March gifties in the stocking...so the Stitch-A-Long will have to go on the back burner for this week while I get up to speed with my swap committment...

Little Miss...

It is my niece's birthday tomorrow...she will be 11 and 365 days...her mum and I decided yesterday that was more acceptable to us than 12!...anyway what to give someone when they turn 11 and 365 days....mmm, well, she loves Mr Men & Little Miss...all her school books this year are covered in that theme...so I googled and googled and finally found some Little Miss fabric...and made her a photo board...

Somewhere to pin up her photos from scouts, joeys, little aths, school and all those other activities that 11 and 365 day year olds get up to...she said she liked it so that was a plus for me...either that or she is a future  Academy Award winner (and I've always called her Nicole Kidman 'coz she is a tall thin readhead) as she was pretty convincing...

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Little Miss R...

And as it is a project made from fabric...ribbon & buttons...it constitutes a "soft craft" and is therefore an OPAM finish for March!  Wahoo...and the first week hasn't even passed yet!!!
