Spinning Log Cabin...

A "finish" last Sunday the spinning log cabin block from the quilt group workshop in August...
I am so not in any kind of like with the blah colour combo (the fabrics/colours chosen by the tutor - brown is hardly a colour to pop against a beige background in my view but what would I know!) but it was about the technique so I sucked it up.

Done now except for removing the paper and giving it a good press which will no doubt be an improvement....and no...there aren't any more of this block lurking in my future...done one now, moving on...there may be something I need to re-make next year which can use up an orphan block so if that comes to pass then I might use the block on that.

OK, a new weekend...the sun is actually shining and the sky is blue not grey...hope the sun is shining in your world...

Nature's Journey Emerging from Hiatus...

Maybe it is the onset of Spring, all the lovely centres being shown on the Stitch-A-Long blog or just that taking a break from the project was enough to want to bring it back into the light, but for whatever reason Nature's Journey has emerged from hiatus this week...with two small and four large make-up blocks to complete before moving on to the centre, this week's result is...
The two small blocks replace the embroidered initial and year...the two large blocks replace the patched circle lower "corners", a second hexie flower and a second star - almost there, I got very bored with the chain stitch circle on the star Thursday night and just couldn't keep at it so it is waiting for me this week...the other two large replacements blocks are prepared, they replace the spikey flower shapes I didn't like...that will bring me up to the centre...I need to bring the box of patches back home when they are all done to pin up for centre applique fabric choices and to machine construct the background, so that will take as long as it takes...

Friday Night With Friends....

Usually I am travelling on a Friday night but last night I stayed put so I got all excited that I could could play along at Friday Night With Friends...wahooo!...I had a plan...it involved hexies...I was sooo looking forward to executing the plan...I stitched together the one prepared flower waiting to be constructed....I searched around for the acrylic peeper templates to play "which piece of fabric will I chop up next"...and that's where the plan came to a screeching halt...acrylic templates not in the vicinity...in the sewing room, at home!...wahhh!!!! (that has been rectified, I'm home now so they are packed to travel back!)...with that I lost the plot, it all got too hard, I was too tired and this is all I ended up achieving before giving up and going to bed...
one lonely hexie flower and two inset triangles - well one inset triangle last night...mmm let's be honest half a triangle last night as one side was already stitched and one this morning before breakfast...it was still Friday night SomeWhere so I'm counting it. Ah well, something is better than nothing...

Hope you all had a much more productive Friday Night...Thanks Cheryll for having everyone over to yours...all the linkys to check out what everyone did are here...
