Secrety Stitching...

It's been slow stitchy time lately but deadlines are being met...Santa has picked up my SSCS present and popped it on his sleigh for delivery to ??? in ???...mmm, wonder to whom and to where it could be going???
The sky falling today meant there was nothing for it but to spend the day in the sewing room...plans for weeding on a grand scale and washing Jindi shelved...the dog may be pleased she avoided being washed but until she smells better she is relagated to outdoors which doesn't please her at all, tough!...rifling through old magazines looking for inspiration, which wasn't forthcoming without help, I settled on a mug bag...all it needs is cord or ribbon for the drawstring...of course the ribbon I found which was the perfect colour wasn't long enough...I'll have to wait until Monday now when the local habby is open, fingers crossed they have the colour I've now decided is perfect...I've also completed projects for a group I'm a member of...a quilt-as-you-go-hexi for new club banner for next year's quilt show, stitchery block for annual Christmas break-up block raffle, a Kris Kringle present...the pincushion is from Anni Downes book, Some Kind of Wonderful, which of course is the current Stitch-a-Long which I must get to starting now that I've almost met all of the swap/Kris Kringle/group project deadlines...I did say almost, still a few bits and bobs to go before I can get to SKOW...and two triangle pouches, which is what you get when you automatically cut two pieces of main fabric and two pieces of lining for a bag when setting out to make one triangle pouch, oh well I've got one in reserve now for another time.
I was a bit worried about the potential "fiddlyness" of the pincushion but it went together very very easily and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, hope it's new stitcher likes it as much as I do...a couple of pics of the detail...
Hope your weekend is stitchy...and dry!...

Friday Night Sew-In...The Results...

Last night was Friday Night Sew-In for November, hosted once again by Heidi & Bobbi...so it was into the sewing room for a night of stitching...I decided on progress for some small projects...first up out with the light box for a spot of tracing of stitchery designs for some stitching group related projects...that done I turned my attention to Smith the Dog...

...given he'd been waiting for his hind legs and a face for six weeks it was only fair that his turn should come...he is a colourful happy fellow...

I did start stitching one of the aforementioned tracing jobs thinking that as it had the least amount of backstitching I might get it done also...huh! that was the theory, in practice not so much...I used a variegated thread but it isn't working out quite right so will have to be reversed for another go...it has the latest deadline so can wait.

Apparently Victoria now has a monsoon season and it is today...need a wetsuit and flippers to leave the house so darn shame have been forced to get some stitching done on the other stitcheries I traced.

Hope your weekend is productive...thanks Heidi & Bobbi for the "push" to get a couple of small achieves under the belt to start the weekend.

Decisions, Decisions...Finally...Fabric!...

I've been trying to decide which fabrics to use for the next Stitch-a-Long, Some Kind of Wonderful by Anni Downs of Hatched and Patched.  Two bundles of fabric have been living with the book trying to inspire me what to use...
Itsy Bitsy by Renee Nanneman of Need'l Love for Andover Fabrics
Where the Wind Blows by Melanie Hurlston of Melly & Me for Creative Abundance...
the decision is both...generally Itsy Bitsy for the backgrounds/cream/beige prints...Where the Wind Blows for the applique...of course bits and bobs may interchange along the way...Itsy Bitsy has resided in the sewing room for quite some time as have a couple of pieces of Against the Wind...you may recall in August when I went to Urban Stitches I was coerced into buying the bundle of Against the Wind...OK not so much coerced as when I asked my so called friends not to let me buy it even though it was on special and a great bargain, they all rebelled and convinced me that I needed it!...apparently I did...for this quilt!!!  I've a couple of Cosmo Seasons variegated threads in the floss stash which I'm thinking just may be right for the stitchery/embroidery.

Now to wash the WTHB bundle....and copy the block pages from the book so it is easier to trace and create applique templates...I'll get around to starting the actual stitching one of these days...*LOL*

Happy stitching...
